Our beliefs are the foundation that we have built Timbers on.
About the Bible
We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error and completely relevant to our daily lives.
About the Trinity
God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they possess equal power and authority.
We believe God is great: He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, Holy. It is in Him that we live, move and exist. God is good. He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.
We believe Jesus Christ to be the virgin-born Son of God who lived in flesh, died for the sins of the world, was buried, rose again bodily, and ascended to the Father. He and He alone is the only plan for bringing people back into a right relationship with God.
About the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit’s presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He baptizes us, comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.
We believe that all people were created in the image of God and are the supreme object of His creation. Mankind was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way for the forgiveness of sin. God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation cannot be earned, it is a gift from God.
About the Church
We believe in the universal church, the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted - by faith - in the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him, and bringing the gospel to the world. We are God’s offense.
We believe people were created to live forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and forgiveness that comes only through Jesus Christ. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of external existence.
We believe God heals progressively, medically, miraculously, and eternally.
About Water Baptism
We believe baptism is a public profession of faith in Christ. It is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. It is a declaration to the world that we have died to sin and have been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life. Jesus taught that all who repent and believe where to be baptized.
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a spiritual meal consisting of two elements: The bread and the cup. The bread symbolizes Christ’s body broken for us. The cup, filled with the fruit of the vine, represents the blood of Christ poured out for our sins.
